Fluoride & Sealants

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay. Fluoride is applied to the teeth as a varnish. This treatment contains a much higher level of fluoride than the amount found in toothpastes and mouth rinses and Dr. Nazarian will determine if this type of treatment is right for you.

Dental Sealants

Sealants decrease the risk of cavities and ensure a healthier smile. They are made of a plastic resin that is bonded to the tooth's surface sealing up pits or fissures where decay commonly occurs. The sealant process is simple; a conditioner is placed on the tooth's surface so the sealant can properly bond. Once the surface is prepared, the sealant is applied and a curing light is used to harden the plastic resin. Once the teeth are sealed, Dr. Nazarian will examine the sealants during routine checkup to ensure they continue to provide the protection needed.
